Buñuelos (bu’welos) are a typical sweet snack in most Latin American countries. Made from a simple, wheat- based yeast dough that is fried and sweetened with cinnamon sugar; they are considered an essential dish in Mexican cuisine.

Directions

1. In a heavy-bottomed frying pan, heat up your oil to a medium-high heat (The point where the oil just starts to bubble when you dip the tortilla in).
2. Fry the tortillas, one at a time, until crispy and golden brown.
3. Remove the tortillas from the oil and drain them on a few sheets of kitchen towel.
4. Before completely cooled, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

Enjoy together with a warm, creamy cup of Mexican hot chocolate.
