A sopapilla (soap/pah/pee/ya) is a soft, sweet light dough, flash-fried to puff up into a hollow pillow, drizzled with honey and served hot.
In other parts of Latin America, they are known as ‘Cachangas’ and can also be served with an array of different toppings.
INGREDIENTS:
DIRECTIONS:
1. Mix all ingredients until an elastic dough is formed. It should not be sticky.
2. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut into 2cm squares.
3. Heat the oil to a medium-high in a deep skillet.
4. Fry the dough squares until golden brown.
5. Serve immediately with agave syrup.
